Getting Married

Congratulations! There are several procedures to complete after marriage. Take them one by one.

    Marriage Registration (Konin-todoke)
    Start here. Need 2 adult witnesses.
    Bring your photo ID, seal (optional), and change of address form (if applicable) to the City Hall Citizens' Affairs Division, Administrative Centers, etc.

    My Number Card
    Update if your surname or address changed.
    My Number Cards are issued free of charge. Various procedures can be done at City Hall or Service Centers, but advance reservations may be required for weekends, nights, or receiving the card.

    🏥 Health & Insurance Open
    Enrollment and Withdrawal from National Health Insurance
    May need to update if joining/leaving spouse's insurance.
    You must complete the 'enrollment' procedure when leaving a company, and the 'withdrawal' procedure when starting a new job, within 14 days. Delays may result in paying full medical costs or double billing of insurance taxes.
