Ota City Free Lawyer Consultation (Citizens' Consultation Div.)

Lawyers belonging to the Gunma Bar Association provide free consultations and legal advice.

Target Audience and Content

• Target: Residents of Ota City (*Consultations on May 7 and Oct 8 are open to all Gunma Prefecture residents)
• Content: Strictly limited to consultations on legal interpretations. (*Emotional venting, common-sense questions, specific procedures like document creation, and business matters are not accepted.)

Date, Time, and Location

• Schedule: Once a week (Wed 9:30-Noon or Thu 13:30-16:00), and the 3rd Saturday of the month (9:30-Noon)
• Location: Ota City Hall 3F Citizens' Consultation Div. (*On Saturdays, please enter through the staff entrance)
• Time & Limit: 20 minutes per session. Up to 2 times per person per fiscal year (Apr-Mar).

Methods and Rules

• In-person (up to 2 people) or Phone consultation (the city will call you).
• For phone consultations, if you want the lawyer to look at documents, please bring them to the division by the day before.
• Recording is prohibited. Interpreters are not provided.

Reservation (Advance Booking Required)

Book via phone, counter, or Web (Saturday is Web only) from 2 weeks prior to the day before the consultation. State if you want in-person or phone. *Cancellations must be made by phone by noon the day before. Late cancellations count as one session.
